Employment and Legal Issues

Employers and employees have statutory rights and responsibilities under UK and European employment law. Employees must abide by the terms of their contract of employment including giving and working the specified period of notice.

This lesson has been put together to identify the legal rights and responsibilities of an employee and employer address a range of potential employment or legal issues. An Employee should be aware of the details included in their contract of employment, as this will often state the policies and procedures that apply to their employment. This includes important details such as the grievance and disciplinary procedure, wages, holiday and sick pay, and other responsibilities.

This lesson also explores a range of general legal issues such as data protect, copyright, and a range of printing and publishing laws that apply to companies in the UK.
